Course Overview

My name is Diane Davidson and I developed the Paleo Recipe Cookbook for humanOS. After graduating with my Master’s in nutrition and culinary degree from Bauman college, I started my business called Cast Iron Kitchen. It thrills me to be able to cook healthy, paleo meals for many clients every week. Over the last few years, after cooking literally thousands of meals, with weekly feedback, I’ve created a set of recipes that I’m very proud to call my own. I’m also very happy that I get to share them with you here.

Cooking Skills Course

When Dan and I sat down to discuss how to help people as much as possible in this project, we realized that it would be useful to provide a cooking skills video course so that I could demonstrate how anyone can create meals that provide a “symphony of flavors.” These are skills that I learned during my training, but anyone can use them to turn a meal - paleo or otherwise - into something that you’ll want to make again and again.

Since I have a dual interest in health and cooking, I strive to make meals from  delicious, nutrient-dense food made from local organic ingredients.

Why Paleo?

The Paleo Diet is a way of eating that most closely resembles the way our ancestors would have eaten before the invention of agriculture 12,000 years ago and longer. Think foods that might be hunted or gathered: fruits, non-starchy vegetables, meats, seafood, and nuts. It doesn’t include foods that came from farming, like grains, legumes, and dairy, and perhaps even more importantly, it doesn’t contain refined and processed foods that are ubiquitous in our world now.

Why eat this way? Studies have shown adopting a Paleo diet can be healthy for blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar control, and just about everything else it's been studied for.  It’s also linked to weight loss - and keeping it off. While there isn’t a huge literature base on the diet, the research that is out there is quite impressive. Check out this meta-analysis on the Paleo diet that Dan wrote about on our blog.

How it works?

Each day, one of the recipes in the pack is selected as the recipe of the day. This is our way of helping you stay on track. However, you are always free to choose from any of the recipes, anytime.

Here are a few tips to get the most out of these recipes:

  • Access any recipe from your dashboard and in the recipe library. You’re just a click away from your entire cookbook (and let’s be honest, hardcover cookbooks collect dust on the shelf).
  • Searchability makes finding recipes easy. Do you have chicken in the fridge? Search for chicken within the recipe library and you'll have several ideas of what you can make tonight.
  • Favorite your most ♥ recipes. Doing so will save them on your favorites section making them easy to find the next time you want to dazzle your loved ones with your favorite dish du jour.

There are a lot of good reasons to eat well. Everything you eat has an effect in your body and either moves you closer to your health goals, or further away. When we make good food choices day in, day out, the benefits are big: we can achieve and maintain a healthy weight, reduce our risk of chronic diseases, combat the effects of aging, and make it easier to feel good. Who doesn’t want that?

Enjoy!
